The preinstalled BBC iPlayer app only works after a factory reset then refuses to load the next day
Hi @gileslaughton..!!
The issue you're facing with the BBC iPlayer app is unusual and can be frustrating. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem on your Hisense TV:Â
Primary Troubleshooting:
- Ensure you have a stable and strong internet connection.
- Ensure your device has enough free storage space.
- Ensure both the app and your device’s software are up-to-date.
Secondary Troubleshooting:
- Go to Settings > Apps > BBC iPlayer > Clear Cache. If the issue persists, clear Data as well.
- Uninstall and reinstall BBC iPlayer.
- Go to Settings > Apps > Reset App Preferences.
- Reach out to BBC iPlayer support for further assistance.
- Ensure the energy-saving settings of your TV are not interfering.
Thanks for your reply and good advice Ruben
I have no problems re the primary troubleshooting
I had already tried clearing the cache and data and will continue doing that
Strangely I can't see how to uninstall or reinstall the BBC iPlayer app. It was factory installed, no options are given to remove it and it isn't available on the Hisense VIDAA app store!
I haven't mentioned that I live in France but have been successfully using a Smart DNS for years.Â
Anyway, for the moment it's working because, having cleared the cache & data and unplugging the TV, I created a new BBC account and signed in using that.Â
I also switched the TV network connection from Ethernet to Wireless which might help as I refresh the Smart DNS on my laptop
