Hello, I have had a U8H for more than a year, but recently I noticed a problem with a couple of games, with VRR activated the screen flickers in the upper left corner, the strange thing is that in a game (Immortals of Aveum) If I activate the frame generation option the problem decreases drastically (but I don't think it disappears completely), but in the other game (The First Descendant) the problem appears when I activate that option. The great variation in FPS also catches my attention. I also tried with Spiderman Miles Morales and although the FPS goes up and down just as strongly, the flickering is not noticeable, although perhaps it is more difficult to notice because there is more light in the game, the other game that I tried with VRR is Forbidden West, here The FPS are super stable and there is no flickering. What do you think that might be?.

Hi @adrianjmr..!!

It sounds like the issue is related to how VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) interacts with specific games and the varying FPS (Frames Per Second). Here are the steps to help diagnose and resolve the issue:

  1. Check for any new firmware update available on your Hisense U8H TV and install it, if any.
  2. Ensure your game and gaming console are updated to the latest versions.
  3. Try turning off VRR for the specific games causing the flickering and checking if the issue has been resolved. Some games might not be fully optimized for VRR. You can usually find this option in the TV's settings under Picture → Advanced Settings → VRR.
  4. It is vital to use high-quality HDMI 2.1 cable with VRR and high bandwidth support. This is recommended if you don't want to deal with signal issues.
  5. Check if the TV's Game Mode settings have any additional options for VRR or frame generation. Try using these settings to see if they improve the situation.
  6. Check your gaming console’s settings for VRR and other display options. Make sure the console is configured correctly for your TV.
  7. Since you noticed the issue is game-specific, test more games to see if the problem persists across other titles. This can help determine if the issue is with the TV or the game itself.
  8. If the problem continues, it is better to contact Hisense customer support for further assistance. They might have more insights or solutions for VRR-related issues.

These steps should help you diagnose and possibly resolve the flickering issue with VRR on your Hisense U8H TV.

@ruben Hello, I've made a discovery about my tv's problem. It seems that the problem appears when Instant Game Response is active, I turned it off and the flickering and fps drops in VRR games disappear. I know the purpose of Instant Game Response is to activate the low latency mode for better response in games, and I really want this feature.

Another thing that I notice was that the automatic changes that occur in Picture>Advanced Settings configuration, when Instant Game Response is Active, it seems that it turns off 1) Motion Enhancement, 2) Motion Clearness, 3) Noise Reduction, 4) Digital Noise Reduction, 4) Dynamic Tone Mapping. So I turn off all of these things manually with Instant Game Response deactivated and again there is no flickering and no fps drops. This problem only happens with Instant Game Response.

I suppose that I can use it like a work around solution to have Instant Game Response desativated and have all those features turn it off manually so I can have the best latency posible, since I only use my ps5 to play games. My question is, turning those features off manually will give me exactly the same result than Instan Game Response does?

Thanks in advance.
